He teaches ethnographic film and film music at the Faculty of Music Studies at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and serves as a tutor of the course “Greek Music Culture and Education” at the e-Learning Vocational Training Center. He has taught ethnomusicology, film music, ethnographic film and music multimedia at the Department of Popular and Traditional Music at the Technological Educational Institute of Epirus. He has been a fellow of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the Propondis Foundation and the Nippon Foundation. He is a reviewer for several academic journals as well as a member of the editorial board of the musicological periodical Polyphonia, the Hellenic Musicological Society, the Hellenic Society of Acoustic Ecology, the European Association of Social Anthropologists – Media Anthropology Network and the International Music and Media Research Group. He has participated in more than 20 research projects concerning music of Thrace, Eastern Macedonia, Corfu and Crete, music museums and archives, Western art music at the times of crisis, video life stories of migrants, internships of musicology students, kid songs analysis, digital music metadata, ethnomusicological films and restoration of musical manuscripts. He is a member of the Special Technical Laboratory Staff of the Laboratory of Ethnomusicology and Cultural Anthropology.

Artistic Activity

He has participated in contemporary music concerts as an accordion player and a chorister and he has composed about 35 works for various music ensembles, many of which have been performed in Greece and abroad. He has worked as a music editor in major music publishing companies and cultural institutes, he has been teaching music in public and private education and he is artistic director of Iphigenia Manesioti Music School.
