International Workshop on the Analysis-Synthesis of the singing voice
14-15 December 2022, Athens
Αmphitheater Drakopoulos, University of Athens, Main Building, Panepistimiou 30
The last decade, new tools and methods for investigating the vocal qualities and correctness of the singing voice have slowly been popular in the computer assisted music community within an interdisciplinary crossroad of the acoustics of the singing voice, music performance analysis and music information retrieval. Present research shows that vocal pedagogues and voice students worldwide are becoming more accepting of technology in the classroom.
This Workshop, aims firstly to communicate the results of the ASMA (Assistance for Students in singing and Music Aesthetics) -a national research project on vocal instruction and interaction in the classroom- and bring together experts, researchers and practitioners who work on the domain of voice singing acoustics and technology. The ASMA research project involves also original and innovative research on the social and aesthetic importance of student vocal training, which will lead to the development of a modern platform with interactive applications in order to assist teaching singing in elementary school. Thus, ASMA platform will support the training for correct pronunciation, tonal precision, modal correctness, expressiveness, and musical rhythm in singing. This platform is based on experiential learning and visualization techniques, which lead to the desirable results through recreational, albeit educational processes, within collaborative and adaptive learning.
