Dr. Vassilios Salteris was born in Athens in 1981. He graduated from the Department of Music Studies at the University of Athens in 2004 and was awarded a doctorate at the same Department in 2012. His doctoral thesis on "The music tradition of the Old Sticherarion" was prepared under the supervision of Professor Achilleas Chaldaeakes with a scholarship from the I.K.Y. and the Onassis Foundation. His research is mainly focused on the tradition of the Sticherarion and especially on its evolution during the post-Byzantine period, the phenomenon of beautification and its famous musicalizations. He worked as a researcher in the project "Digital Collection of the Music Library of Psachos" under the supervision of Assistant Professor Flora Kritikou. He also holds a degree in violin performance and advanced theory, as well as a diploma in Byzantine music. In 2014, he was admitted to the National School for Public Administration and Local Government and completed his internship (2014-2015) at the Music Department of the Ministry of Culture with a thesis on the institution of Cultural Sponsorship. Since then, he serves in the administration of the Greek Public Employment Service.
