Kostas Tzekos was born in Corfu. He studied theory at the Ionian Conservatory and clarinet at the Philippos Nakas Conservatory. He continued his studies at the École Normale de Musique de Paris where he obtained the Diplôme Supérieur d'Exécudon (Guy Dangain class) and the Diplôme de Concerdste de Musique de Chambre (Dévy Erlih class). He also studies musicology at the Department of Music Studies of the National Kapodistrian University of Athens. Since 2016, he holds the position of solo basso clarinetist at the Athens State Orchestra and is a member of the ERGON and VENTUS chamber music ensembles. Finally, he is a professor at the Conservatory of the Municipality of Heraklion, Crete and at the Youth Academy of the State Orchestra of Athens.
He has participated in the Ensemble Moderne Summer Academie and in seminars in France, Belgium and the Netherlands with famous clarinetists, such as Walter Boeykens, Ronald van Spaendonck, Philippe Berrod, Patrick Messina, Jacques di Donato etc. He has performed in concerts in various European countries and has participated in festivals, such as the Akbank Jazz Fesdval Istanbul, the KunstFestSpiele Herrenhau-sen Hannover, the Internadonal Music Day in Hyde Park-London, the Suså Fesdval, the Documenta14 Kassel, the Ravenna Fesdval etc. He has collaborated with the Greek National Opera, the National Theatre of Greece, the Orchestra of Colors, Camerata / Armonia Atenea Orchestra, the Prague Philharmonic etc.
