CHARIS PAZAROULAS

Charis Pazaroulas is Co-Principal (Section Leader B) of the double bass section of the Athens State Orchestra, a member of the contemporary music ensemble TETTTIX, and of the research-based artistic group On Off. He demonstrates a strong interest in the study, interpretation, and performance of contemporary and experimental music. He has appeared as a solo artist or ensemble member at festivals such as the Athens Epidaurus Festival, the 2024 Days of Electroacoustic Music, Tectonics Athens ’22, the 7th Kallio New Music Days, Tulkinnanvaraista, and the Impuls Festival – MinuteConcerts.

His extensive artistic career includes collaborations with major orchestras such as the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra, the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, the Greek National Opera Orchestra, the Orchestra of Colours, and the Philharmonia Orchestra of Athens.

He is a graduate of the Department of Music Studies at the Ionian University, the Athens Conservatory, and the Sibelius Academy in Finland. He is currently a doctoral candidate at the Department of Music Science and Art at the University of Macedonia, researching works by Greek composers for solo double bass and electronic media. His first solo album, “TRANSCENDENCE I,” was released in May 2024 by the Japanese record label Zappak.
