GRIGORIS ASONITIS

Grigoris Asonitis has been a horn player with the Athens State Orchestra since 2001.

He was born and raised in Corfu, where he received his first musical stimuli. In 1986, he moved to Athens and enrolled at the Athens Conservatory, initially in the piano class and subsequently in the horn class under N. Koratzinos.

In 1990, he continued his horn studies with Professor Vangelis Skouras at the Orfeio Conservatory of Athens, where he received his Diploma in 1998 with unanimous distinction and First Prize.

He was then accepted into the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Trossingen in Germany, studying under Professor Francis Orval.

While in Germany, alongside his studies, he had the opportunity to collaborate with several symphony orchestras (Stuttgart, Rottweil, Freiburg, NDR), some of which he continues to work with today.

He has attended international masterclasses in countries such as Belgium, Italy, Germany, and France, and has been active in organizing horn seminars in Athens and Corfu with distinguished professors such as Herman Baumann, Hector McDonald, Henric Halien, Theo Wiemes, among others.

He has an extensive record of chamber music performances with ensembles such as N. Mantzaros, the Athens State Orchestra Woodwind Quintet, and the brass ensemble Metallon.

Through his participation in the educational initiatives of the Athens State Orchestra (such as "Right to Music", "Insisting on the Aegean", "Fertile Remote Lines", and the K.O.A. brass workshops), he has collaborated with many musical institutions across Greece, offering concerts and lessons to students and pupils throughout the country.

As a soloist, he has performed with the Athens State Orchestra and the ERT Orchestra and has recorded various works for the Third Programme of the Hellenic Radio.

He has given recitals in concert halls in Athens and other cities in Greece.

He teaches horn at the National Conservatory.
